EDITORIAL: Govt Must End ASUU Strike Now And Halt This Crime Against Nigeria
How can education thrive in a state of emergency? Can some one very close to the President tell him that lifting the siege on those parts of the country would lead to ASUU listening to government. Open campuses in a state of emergency is a recruitment ground for chaos.
End the siege on Nigerians, provide their needs and empower the people to work.
Provide electricity, invest in agriculture and sponsor citizens who are willing to do business ,trade and study.
What is happening in Nigeria is inconceivable.

PRAYER IS THE MASTER KEY!
Help us check in ourselves and in others every temper which makes for violence, and all promptings of self-assertion, isolation, and arrogance, that we may understand the aspirations of other countries, and may gladly do what lies in us to remove every misunderstanding, thus serving the welfare of all people.
Holy God, you have made of one blood all nations that dwell upon earth. Look with mercy upon us, and drive away our evil passions of fear and hatred. Grant that united in good will we may live together in charity and joy, each in the praise of great achievements, in rivalry of good and beneficent deeds, and sharing in truthful and just dealings with one another.
Increase, O God, the spirit of neighbourliness among all who dwell on earth, that in peril we may uphold one another, in suffering tend one another, and in loneliness befriend one another. Grant us brave and enduring hearts that we may be strengthened, until the strife of these days be ended and you give peace in our time.
O Thou protector of the universe, ruler of its destiny, abode of happiness and peace, ocean of mercy, friend of the poor, destroyer of the pangs of want, everlasting, whole, unending, beginning-less, perfect, ancient of days, refuge of thy people, beloved of the heart, and guardian and mainstay of life, grant us peace in our time.
Amen."

The Creation of the United States of Abraham;Panacea for peace in the Middle-East.
By Segun Badmus
23/10/2013
Taking a cursory look at history from the time of Prophet Abraham. It is noteworthy to agree that Abraham is the father of faith and was promised to be the father of all Nations. And taking a cogent look at the territorial realities, historical affinity, cultural identity and racial groupings of the land of Palestine and Israel,it could be accepted that it is the land of Abraham.
It is on this premise I suggest a Federal system of government which binds Israel and Palestine into a United States of Abraham. It could solve the issues of Jerusalem being the capital of both Nations,it could reconnect the West bank to link up with other cities,it would solve the issue of the aerial control of the port city of Ashdod, it could solve the issue of Gaza blockade from both sides of the borders,it could solve the issue of Golan height border tension with Syria ,it could make settlement issues form part of a nation's quest for development. Both Israel and Palestine nation combined is a small territory, even not as big as Mpumalanga Province in South Africa.
The continued grandstanding from all sides do no one any good. The continued sponsor of terror is worsening the humanitarian situation in Palestine and it is creating fear in the lives of an average Israeli, it would obviously affects the future of the unborn generation. If we do not sacrifice now,it would backfire in the future when warfare wont be fought with bombs and guns. When wars could be fought with chemical and nuclear war weapons. Where technology could drive a paradigm shift in the way we cause havoc.
Some would argue that the Israel/Palestine issue has been an age longed problem that defies solutions. Some would say there is a curse that would never be lifted. But I posit that in the history of man, there has never been a permanent situation, change has been the only constant thing in the evolution of the human race. There was a time Jerusalem was under ruins, there was a time Egyptians were holding Israelites captives, there was a time America was under the control of the Queen.
My emphasis is that,a time to unite the progenitors of Abraham into a nation that was promised to father Abraham found on free and democratic principles is here.Even though it may sound ridiculous at first thought, a cursory look and in-depth reasoning of my suggestion could provide the needed answers to the centuries old crisis that has defied human solution. Some argued for a 2 state solution that is practically impossible, taking into account the territorial realities that makes it inconceivable to have 2 States carved out on the ground. The continued obstinate nature of all leaders who are supposedly saddled with the job of thinking above board and leaders who are expected to think and act for the future could only create a template for chaos that may eventually consume a generation,if no positive action is taken now. The earlier we face the realities of creating a sustained and justifiable entity that takes the rights of every citizen into consideration, whether you are Jewish,Arabic,Islamic,Christian, Pagans and all people from all walks of life, people with one connection or the other to these historical lands.
As our President veers off on pilgrimage to Israel /Palestine and meeting the two leaders of these territories,he may use the opportunity to pinch the Israelis and Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza about deciding the road map to peace. The continued divisive tendencies from vested American and Israeli interests in the United States is a stumbling block to peace and must be discountenanced as a peaceful middle east is catalyst for world peace and development. Let us alter the thinking process that promotes supremacy battles, hate, violence, and forcefully delimiting the freedoms of other people. Instead we should bring all these energies into positive direction that would ensure peace and sustainable development.
With the olive branch from the new Iranian President Rouhani and the new mindset of the Iranian elites,we could fashion out a lasting means to restoring peace to the people of these territories. If democracy is about the people and it is the participation of the majority to decide who and what governs them, then we should allow democracy to determine the future of the people of Abraham.
The United States of Abraham could be the solution to the division between Israel and Palestine.
Thank you.

By Segun Badmus
While the people of Nigeria were engaging in the furore that broke out in the aftermath of the procurement of 2 bullet proof cars by the NCAA for the use of the Minister and its Ministry. These pertinent questions must be asked.

Why the American Rich are Becoming Richer and the Poor Becoming Poorer
posted by Dylan Hock Economy, Human Rights, Opinion
The American Dream is still very much alive, it appears, but for whom?
According to the Huffington Post, America is tops in “creating really, really rich people.” We’re talking $50 million and then some rich–collectively totaling over $2 trillion–more than the entire bottom half of the country; more than the GDP of Italy, Mexico, Canada; and equal to about two-thirds of all taxes to be collected in the U.S. for 2013. Forbes claims that makes a spike from last year’s $1.7 trillion–up half a trillion!
In a year’s time the net worth of Forbes 400 members also rose to its highest ever–$5 billion. Just to make it on the list the game was raised by $1.3 billion. Atop the wealthy list are the usual players–Bill Gates at $72 billion and Warren Buffett at $58.5 billion, etc. But how does America create such wealth in such quantity, and more so than the rest of the world?
According to CNBC’s Robert Frank, “younger Americans are accumulating wealth at a faster clip than their baby boomer counterparts,” and many of those younger wealthy Americans have made their fortune in the tech industry, such as Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Larry Page and Sergey Bring, among others. The pace of the tech field makes for a ripe industry through constant innovations and competition. Creativity and know-how can rocket one to wealth overnight in such a field, so wealth has the ability to accumulate very quickly, in a manner that would have taken much more time in industrial ventures for obvious reasons. It’s much easier to spread one’s business across the web than location by location in the physical world.
The demand for such industries as the tech industry, coupled with today’s youth culture and rapid means of growing and advertising one’s business, creates an economic intersection of higher salaries, which leads to an obvious more rapid growth of wealth, as well. Brian Dombkowski, chief investment officer of Sand Hill Global Advisors, out of Palo Alto, CA, thinks the game has changed. “Young entrepreneurs today made their money by building a better mousetrap, and they have been rewarded by the market for it. We have seen significantly more wealth creation than we did in earlier generations.” Perhaps, as businesses learn to refine their use of advertising, building, and networking on the web, the world is simply reaching a new norm in production of wealth?
Stocks are also another means and reason for rich Americans’ soaring wealth.
According to another CNBC article by Frank, stocks are primarily what’s driving America’s wealth. One needs to have a couple nickels to rub together in the first place to begin playing the stock market. The poor are nearly invisible in the major apparatus forcreating wealth in the country. While such an apparatus is excessively beneficial for the rich, it is entirely detrimental to average Americans, certainly the poor, and serves to undermine the stability of the country.
This is just one nail in the inequality coffin Nobel Prize in Economics winner Robert Shiller has talked so much about. Stocks, Frank wrote, “have been on a tear this year in the U.S., which has mainly benefited the top 5 percent, who own 60 percent of all individually held stocks.”
This is why, in America, people say, “The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.” This is why social unrest and the Occupy Wall St. movement sprang up and resounded with such resonance around not only America, but the rest of the world. This is why, “Some day, we will have nothing left to eat, but the rich!” as they say.
Why did it spread around the rest of the world? Because America has its mitts and boot prints all over the globe. Because we rob, rape, and plunder the rest of the planet for our wealth. Or, the rich do, anyway. And they use stocks and various investments, as well as criminal banking practices, war and tax havens to hoard and grow their wealth exponentially while the rest of us live hand to mouth. As long as there is inequality in America, there will be inequality in the rest of the world.
America contains the most wealthy first and foremost due to its exploitation of the rest of the world, and those wealthy are then able to utilize the current economic free for all across the globe to skyrocket into the financial stratosphere (why would one ever retire?), stashing their bloated fortunes in tax havens wherever they can find them, leaving the rest of the world, poor, hungry, uneducated, without proper medical care, without the means for strong social programs for the elderly, disable, and challenged. Worst of all they buy up our land and water, destroy them along with the air, and use their arrogance to fence us out of the free and natural world, not to mention a happy, sustainable life.
Perhaps the most frightening of all is that America does not even yet realize that it is not next on the auction block. It is on the auction block. Those paying attention fear it has already been sold.
Welcome to the American Dream.

Here is your Friday story
Teaching a "Life Lesson"
"Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece - by thought, by choice, courage, and determination."
That quote is from Coach Matt Labrum and is a memorization requirement for the 41 teenagers on his football team. There is more. Those 41 young men also have to document several hours of community service, show they are passing all their classes, and stay clear of any discipline issues at school. So is Coach Labrum trying to coach football or be a "character cop"? Hold on!
Coach Labrum is doing what more coaches, parents, teachers, and bosses should do in their positions of authority. He is making the point that - using his own words - things like playing football are a "privilege rather than a right." And privileges bring responsibilities. They do not confer permission to swagger, cheat, bully, take advantage of success, or otherwise act like a knuckle head.
As background, you need to know that Coach Labrum had learned about some pretty ugly behaviour by the members of his team at Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah. Some of the football players had been bullying a kid at their school. A campus culture among the football players had them skipping classes, being disrespectful toward their teachers, and being generally obnoxious. So on September 20, Labrum suspended the entire team and confiscated their jerseys.
Labrum did what parents sometimes do with four-year-olds. He put his players in time out. He took away their toy. He called off the remainder of the football season - if his players could not commit to and carry through on something more important than football.
They had to become better people.
The "contract" Labrum and his staff offered team members the next day gave them the option of community service, counselling, and strict accountability. Playing football for him would no longer be anyone's right. It would be a privilege earned by rigorous on-the-field drills and responsible off-the-field behaviour.
One of the more encouraging things about this story is that school officials and parents have backed up the coach's actions. A mother of one of the players involved probably said it best. "These boys are not going to be hurt by this," she said. "It's a good life lesson."
Bud Selig has announced he is stepping down as the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. I nominate Matt Labrum for the position! Athletes from all sports who set such sorry examples of poor sportsmanship, use of PEDs or other banned substances, and shameless self-indulgence could use a life lesson too.
Learning to be a better person is far more valuable than a winning season.
